Talk about the 'good old days' - dream on! (we used to call it 'Pumping Ethyl').

In the early 60's, both of my uncles owned gas/service stations (GULF and SINCLAIR).......28 cents for "Regular" still sticks in my head........with autos being the gas-guzzling behemoths they were back in those days, it's a good thing that gas was as cheap as it was......

I can remember when I was 16 (1958), and went cruisin' with my buddies, we'd chip in whatever change we had and head to the local Merit station. Tell the attendant to put in 97 cents worth! That would get us about 5 gallons worth. |

Don't forget, too, that there were still companies back then using older gas buses ("gas buggies", as one veteran Jersey driver I knew long ago called them)
Again, good thing gas was so darn cheap back in those days.......
