Just finished the garage and offices of New Essen Area Transit (NEAT), the transit authority for the 1/160 size city of New Essen, PA on my Schuylkill Valley Railroad layout.
The buildings are made up of the wall sections of two kits along with some sections made up of styrene sheet. The "generic" buses in the yard are from my own castings and the four buses that are partially inside the building are cheapo Chinese buses with a new paint job. I've cast about a dozen more of these buses to go on the streets of New Essen. These are waiting for me to get enough patience to paint and decal them.

That's pretty cool. The closest decal-like job I ever did was put the stickers from the old VHS Tapes unto the windows of my buses. All they read was "T-120" or "T-180".

Thanks Gentlemen,
I printed my own decals using a Testor's decal kit. Seems to work out pretty well.

Fantastic modeling JimmiB!
Regarding your decals. How easy are they to make using Testor's kit? Assuming you used your computer, what dpi did you use?
I thought about decals for some of my buses, but never knew where to start.

Frankie,
They work pretty well on white backgrounds. The biggest problem is that the colors are not dark enough to show up well on a darker background. I let the ink dry overnight and then apply a coat of the spray finish included in the kit and let that set overnight. After that they can be applied like any other decals.
I'm not sure what the DPI count is on my printing program. I use PrintMaster Gold and use whatever the default is, and run it through a Canon ink jet printer.

Here's a photo of the NEAT operation installed on the layout.
If anyone wants to see more of the layout and my buildings here is the link.

JimmiB,
Very nice modeling work. Thanks for the link to the Flickr photos. The structures are particularly impressive, especially the theaters. Great job!
