bobbymedeiros,
Your pictures are great and certainly bring our attention to another vintage northeast operator.
While I know little if much at all about Almeida, I can tell you that the attachment was a 1941 34 passenger Yellow Coach modeled as a TD-3201 (Diesel Powered with a mechanical transmission) and originally one of five numbered 300 to 304 delivered to the New England Transportation Company of New Haven, Connecticut.
The dead giveaway that the bus originated in Connecticut are the two factory installed special (blue) lights (one above each end of the destination sign) that were required on all buses built for intrastate operation in that state.
BTW; as long as I have you on the line let me take this opportunity to welcome you aboard here at BusTalk and say that we look forward to your valued contributions.
Regards,
Mr. Linsky - Green Bus Lines, Inc., Jamaica, New York

I'm aware of the fact that this thread showcases the buses of Almeida Bus Lines, Inc. of New Bedford, Massachusetts up to 1953 but I thought I would take it a few more years into the future.
Pictured in June of 1968 at a bus terminal in Boston and yet to change its destination sign to its new heading is fleet # 73 - a 1964 GM Coach modeled as a PD-4106 and one of eighteen likenesses numbered from 67 and 84 purchased in increments between 1962 and 1965 by the referenced eastern Massachusetts company.
Almeida, a long time and successful suburban operator with routes radiating from Boston, closed down rather abruptly in 1977 with the reason rumored to be the demise of founding family member John Almeida.
The Mass. Dept of Public Utilities ordered Bristol Bus Lines of Bristol RI. to operate Almeida's route to Boston from New Bedford under a temporary permit for which Bristol used five brand new l978 MC8s.
At the same time, Bonanza Bus Lines (now part of Peter Pan) assumed Almeida's very lucrative Boston to Cape Cod corridor.
Records show that Almeida's Motor Passenger Common Carrier Authorization was revoked in December of 1987.
Photo courtesy of '4509bus' and is available at eBay as item # 371031782060.

Actually, they closed down in 1979, my father was the last driver back. I remember the year because my mother was 8 months pregnant with my sister, and my dad would have had 10 years at Almeida that summer. The feds came in and seized all records, it appeared John Almeida III wasn't paying the company's taxes after his grandfather's death.
