I happened to be at the local food market this morning and, standing in front of me on line was a LACMTA driver.
Naturally, I couldn't resist starting a conversation going, and my first question was "how are the 60 BRT's doing?".
After a rather obvious roll of his eyes at the ceiling (meaning; oh, those buses!), he related that the early models have had rather severe problems with their suspension systems, and that Nabi has done little to improve them.
Looks like my question as to how long these buses will last is already being answered!

That's what happens when bureaucrats specify buses. |

Ask anyone from chicago. All of the 60 ft Nabi's have suspension problems. Nabi has done some work on theirs, but you'd think that they would have corrected the problems by now. |

Just an interesting observation;
One windy day earlier this week I'm heading up Wilshire Boulevard among the throngs of NABI 60 BRT's (you can actually walk over them between downtown and Santa Monica) and I noticed one of the roof hatches flapping up and down in the breeze (it reminded me of Dumbo the elephant's big ears ready for takeoff!).
I don't consider this to be a mechanical problem - probably just the result of carelessness in the shop - they should be more watchful!
Generally, however, the 60 BRT's and the 45C's seem to be doing quite well - I haven't seen one breakdown in my travels.
Los Angeles bet the house on this deal with 390 BRT's already in service, and you have to believe that they know what they're doing! (I hope!).
