Also, about ten years ago, the Franklin Square-Munson Fire Department had a New York Bus Service Fishbowl. At the time it was for sale and had a bad transmission, so I doubt it's still around.

I guess Mr. L will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that all the ex-Green Line buses that went to Reading PA were scrapped.

You're right Michael,

Seen in Crawford's Junk Yard at Reading, Pennsylvania is Reading Bus Company #801 - a 1949 GM Coach Model TDH 4507 and ex Green Bus Lines #302.

While unseen in the image, the yard was filled not only with the other nine 4507's it received from GBL but also a goodly number of the same model from Triboro Coach Corporation.

Regards,

Mr. 'L'

Have they been cut up or are they still languishing there? I'm going for still extant, not necessarily preserved.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but,

GBL 1012 1979 RTS and COMMAND 354 1984 RTS were both stored at Varsity Bus in Brooklyn. Varsity has since closed and both buses were possibly scrapped. Jamaica 3001 1972 Fishbowl was given to MOBT who had massive flooding in 2011, submerging the bus to the top of the standee windows, bus has since been scrapped.

From my source, GBL 5895, 5896 and 5897, 1999 Orion V's (one door), are in service for NYPD. 5894 is still at ECH.

As far as I know, the MCI Classics that went to Dept. Of Corrections still exist, I have no way to prove it though.

Double A in Rocky Hill C.T. closed up about 3 years ago, all whereabouts unknown, tried for info and got nothing.

Michael,

The rumor around town is that they are long gone and that Crawfords is now condos but one of the few who would really know is RayPa. - a member of the GM OldLook group and I'll see what I can find out.

Best regards,

Mr. 'L'

2011 was a while ago...

Very sad about 3001. As I recall that was in great shape.

I've only seen that 5896 went to NYPD and the others were either still at ECH and stripped or already scrapped, but I have no reason to doubt your sources Smile.

Did any Classics besides 7869 go to Corrections? And what's the status of the *ahem* privately owned Classics?

I believe 7868 and 1 or 2 more went to Corrections. As far as private, I know one could not be saved and is discussed on this board elsewhere. As far as some of the other private Classics, no comment.
